In just a little over thirty years, Li-Ning has risen to become a leader of athletic clothing and footwear. The company was founded in 1990 by Chinese elite gymnast, Li Ning, whose long list of accomplishments includes winning six medals at the 1984 Summer Olympics, being named as one of the World’s Most Excellent Athletes by the World Sports Correspondent Association in 1999, and being given the honor of lighting the Olympic torch of the 2008 Summer Games held in Beijing. The initial goal of the Li-Ning brand was simple: provide Chinese athletes a national clothing brand that would be showcased at Olympic games and other major international competitions. Li-Ning produces groundbreaking sportswear for many different sports, including badminton, basketball, diving, archery, and - of course - table tennis.
